Shoot Hawaii Dojo (Kawiwiko'o Academy) is a Wrestling based Jiu Jitsu Academy that focuses on Self Defense , Character Building, Self Improvement, and learning good work ethic through being part of the "grind" of Grappling / Combat Sports . Although much of our school competes, our mission is to teach the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle to build better, yet humble and respectful people through the confidence and camaraderie they will experience. To build "Champions of Life" that compete only to challenge themselves , not to win titles and medals. Those are just the bonus!
We believe that physical & mental toughness is essential in life. Our Catch Wrestling training focuses on finishing opponents with techniques used in Vale Tudo , MMA, Street fighting and War. Our motto is an old Samurai saying. “The only solution for bad and violent people are good people , more skilled in violence.”
For the more "TRADITIONAL STUDENT"
For the more "Traditionalist" who prefer Arts with a stricter, more "non-mixed" style that focuses primarily on the preservation of the Art and its disciplines, we offer those classes as well. Jiu Jitsu & Wrestling often (but not always) fall more into a "Sports" or "Ring Combat" way of training whose main goal is to train to win in competition or combat, even if that means adding outside knowledge. This may not be the fit for you. As opposed to Traditional Arts which focus on the system in its purest form and the "rules or "codes" that have been followed or honored in its passing down of the system. Our Traditional Arts programs reflect that, except that we do believe in a style (of an art) evolving for the sake of survival in combat and in modern times. So if it doesn't work TODAY, its not taught. But the History, the Roots, the Stories, the Reasons why, the Traditions, are all preserved. Note: many treat and practice Jiu Jitsu in a more Traditional way and path. Here you can do both!
